YourLBN interview

I recently sat down with the Co-CEO of The Laughing Box Network, Mr. Odell “Otrocity” Payne for an interview to see just what him and his company is all about. Otrocity is a music video director, cinematographer, photographer and producer. He has worked on numerous music videos for artist in North Carolina, the DMV area and Atlanta.  He has also directed and produced music videos for Capital Records and Universal Records recording artist.

As I sat down with him and discussed different questions and topics the main thing that he wanted me to understand about his work was that it has taken him a lot of hard work, time, dedication, practice, let downs, and struggle for him to get at the point in his career now.  He has been producing music for the last eight years and been shooting music videos for only three years. One thing that he stated is that it is hard for people to understand how much time and effort is put into this music, videos, and photos.  So when someone ask his what does he charge for a music video they do not understand why his prices are set the way they are because of what all goes into each video. All people see is what a great finished product they have but not the time that he has put in as far as filming and editing.

Appreciation, Status, Role, and Mutual benefit are the negotiation topics that I chose to focus on when interviewing Otrocity. Knowing that after this work is complete and finished for each client they seem to understand his prices and are very appreciative for all that the puts into each video. Mutual benefit was a very important topic for him also. He stated that when he does beats and especially music videos that the client gets a quality and industry ready video and he benefits from having his name on their video in which creates more exposure for him.

I really enjoyed my interview with Mr. Payne and would love working with him in the near feature. If you would like to check out his work you can go to www.youtube.com/yourlbn
